JOB SUMMARY:

 

The Associate Director develops, implements, and assesses residential curriculum and residential engagement plans, following institutional and educational learning goals set by the University and Division.  Oversees all training, guidance, and support for learning and growth opportunities provided for residential students.   Guides training and development for undergrad, grad, and full-time staff utilizing curriculum, best practice, and current research.  Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES:

 

40% - Essential - Curriculum Development & Implementation                        
Directs departmental work for Residential Experience Model (residential curriculum) through training, education, and ongoing support of residential staff. Coordinates assessment efforts, curriculum review, and quality improvement. Collaborates with departments across campus to identify additional academic strategies and support for residents. Researches best practices, collaborates with practitioners on/off campus, and designs detailed curriculum for implementation by staff in residential communities. Supervises a graduate assistant who works closely with the development, implementation, and assessment of community engagement plans.
40% - Essential - Employee Training & Development
Direct undergraduate student employee training and development incorporating the residential curriculum and ensuring scaffolded and ongoing learning and development. Provide guidance and direction to colleagues in Residential Living for curriculum inclusion in the overall Clemson Home residential staff experience. Supervises a graduate assistant who works closely with the design and implementation of training and development experiences for staff at all levels.
10% - Essential - Assessment & Administration
Oversight of assessment efforts related to: student learning and development for residents and evaluation of undergraduate staff, graduate staff, and full-time staff training and development. Utilize data, research, and best practice to inform and make sound decisions as a department leader. Participates in strategic planning processes.
10% - Essential - Department and Division Initiatives and Partnerships
Responsible for navigating a broad range of initiatives that advance our goals in support of residential student growth and development. Maintains a high level of partnership with both internal and external constituents. May chair or serve on internal or external committees.  Works on departmental projects that support high quality staff and student experiences.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

 

Education -  1st Bachelor's Degree - and experience in student services programs.
Work Exp 0+ years

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

 

Education -  1st Master's Degree
Work Exp 3+ years

Experience developing, implementing and assessing residential curriculum
Demonstrated work in staff training and development.

Provides Budget Input - Provides input into the budgeting process, and oversees fund allocation.

COMPENSATION INFORMATION

 

Expected Salary Range: ($ 45,530.00 - $ 68,000.00)
 

Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.

ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL

 

Normal Operations
Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations.
