JOB SUMMARY:

 

Directs & leads all aspects of the Center for Student Leadership & Engagement (CSLE) including oversight & management of all related  programs, services. and personnel. Establishes effective partnerships to enhance the student experience and develop student leaders. Supports the Clemson Family Advisory Board. Collaborates to raise new funding sources. Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES:

 

35% - Essential - Center Leadership & Management: 
Leads, directs, develops, and implements the vision, management, and operations of the Center by providing strategic supervision, planning, budgeting, and operational oversight of all programs and services. Implements a vision that shapes Clemson's student life experience by developing programs, services, and partnerships that recruit, retain, and develop students to be leaders on campus and in their careers and communities after graduation. Ensures all programs and events are seamlessly implemented and represents Clemson with the highest standards of quality and satisfaction by participants.

20% - Essential - Collaborations & Partnerships:
Leads, directs, & serves as the primary liaison for the Center's communications & collaborations across the University. Responsible for fostering & actively seeking strategic partnerships with academic, community, and external partners that promote the Center's mission and enhances the Clemson student experience. Develops partnerships and collaborations to effectively direct the implementation and management of comprehensive extra/co-curricular programs that compliments Clemson's academic experience and promotes outside of the classroom learning and leadership experiences for students. Actively participates in the planning, implementation and success of Clemson University's strategic plan pillar, "Deliver the No. 1 Student Experience. "

15% - Essential - Development & Sponsorships:
Collaborates with the Student Affairs Development & Sponsorship Offices to develop and secure additional funding opportunities for the Center.  Develops and maintains relationships with students, alumni, and external stakeholders to advance divisional and Center priorities, outcomes, and goals. In partnership with Corporate & Community Relations Director, supports the Clemson Family Ambassador Board (CFAB).

15% - Essential - Budget & Financial Management: 
Develops & manages the Center's annual budget of approximately $2,000,000 which consists of multiple funding sources (E&G, revenues, foundation, & endowment). Ensures funding is utilized to advance Center, divisional, and university goals and strategic plans. Oversees the annual student activity fee allocation and distribution process of approximately $1,900,000. Ensures expenditures are within budget allocations and comply with all university financial and budget policies.

15% - Essential - Human Resources Management:
Leads and directs the human resources management for the Center including the hiring, supervision, evaluation, and professional development of 14 full-time staff members and 4 graduate assistants. Directly hires, supervises, and evaluates 3 direct reports and 1 administrative professional who are responsible for the implementation of assigned programs and services. Partners with staff and students to create a mutually beneficial, inclusive, and collaborative work environment.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

 

Education -  Master's Degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, or related field
Work Experience in student services programs, higher education, student affairs or related field

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

 

Education -  Doctoral / Professional Degree - Higher Education or related field
Work Experience -  7+ years in higher education or related field.

Manages Work of Others - Manages work of others including hiring, terminating, training and developing, reviewing performance and administering corrective action for staff. Plans organizational structure and job content.

BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Develops Department Budgets - Responsible for developing one or more departmental budget(s). Estimated amount of budgetary responsibility in dollar amount must be added.

COMPENSATION INFORMATION

 

Expected Salary Range ($ 73,597.00 - $ 85,000.00)
 

 

Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.

 

ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL

 

Normal Operations

Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations.
