Operations Manager - Civil and Environmental Engineering and Earth Sciences

JOB SUMMARY:

 

Serves as the Operations Manager for the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Earth Sciences. Manages staff and oversees the daily operations for the assigned school. Supports strategic planning and initiatives of the School and associated departments. Provides strategic support to the School Director. Other duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES:

 

35% - Essential - School Operations:  
Provides strategic support to the School Director and Department Chairs. Manages the daily operations of the School. Makes recommendations to identify efficiencies in work processes and structure for the school.  Assists the School Director in strategic hiring process and other school wide initiatives.  Leads teams as required and see projects through to completion. Maintains effective working relationships to internal and external stakeholders.

20% - Essential - Program Management:  
Manages assigned staff and implements development objectives.  Ensures high level of customer service. Serves as primary HR liaison in conjunction with departmental staff and supervisors.  Directs the business operations for the school in conjunction with the College units ensuring high-quality support for internal and external stakeholders. Initiates appropriate action to resolve issues. Coordinates on boarding for new School faculty and staff.

20% - Essential - Strategic Planning:  
Recommends plans for implementing University policies and ensures compliance. Fosters collaborative relationships, and serves as principal liaison to the College and University central offices. Recommends revisions to existing initiatives and new programs to the Director and faculty.

15% - Essential - Assessment and Accreditation:  
Coordinates, compiles, and organizes activities and datasets associated with ABET and SACS for the School and associated programs. Compiles, manages, and maintains accurate reports working with faculty assessment coordinators. Prepares and compiles faculty workload data and other reports as required by the School Director.

10% - Essential - Strategic Initiatives:  
Coordinates new continuing education and undergraduate & graduate focused strategic initiatives for the School. Tracks enrollments, establishes marketing plans, and tracks performance targets to ensure success of strategic initiatives.  Leads implementation efforts for major projects.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

 

Education: Associate's Degree 
Work Experience: experience in computer operations or a related data processing field.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

 

Education: Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in a related area.

No Budget Responsibilities - No fiscal responsibility for the department's budget.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

COMPENSATION INFORMATION

 

Expected Salary Range: ($ 54,974.00 - $ 71,000.00)
 

 

Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.

 

ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL

 

Normal Operations

Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations.
