JOB SUMMARY:

 

The Director of Analytics Systems & Applications develops and leads programs for applied artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and deep learning (DL) across multiple disciplines. Provides expert consultations to faculty and undergraduate researchers working with complex, custom data sets. Serves as technology expert, instructor, and leads all outreach efforts for the Watt AI program. Supervises student workers. Other duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES:

 

55% - Essential - AI Integration Leadership:
Serving as a resident expert, collaborates with, instructs, and informs faculty and undergraduate research efforts on the application of AI focusing on a broad range of data analysis, including social media, large databases and streaming data. Directs the integration of AI/ML (Artificial Intelligence /Machine Learning), data visualization, and media analytics to stimulate new insights and automate analyses.
25% - Essential - Partnership Development:
Builds and maintains partnerships with faculty and undergraduates across campus regarding ongoing research
and teaching efforts that advance research, stimulate innovative integration, and create experiential learning
experiences for students. Supports Watt Center external funding activities including interactions with potential donors/sponsors. Develops and provides new AI/ML capabilities for campus constituencies leading to enhanced proposals and grant applications for new sponsored research. Works on grants and proposals as a co-PI or senior personnel.
10% - Essential - Creative Inquiry:
Provides guidance and direction to Creative Inquiry (CI) student teams in deciding, planning, and executing projects. Utilizes established partnerships to connect faculty with CI students for project implementation. Hires and provides supervision to student interns ensuring compliance with all CI program policies and requirements.
10% - Essential - Needs Assessment and Training:
Assess and identify technical requirements needed by the campus community. Develop and deploy capabilities and training that are consistent with the needs of the University. Develops and delivers technology training and instruction to faculty and students on AI/ML and other topics through various modes and multiple settings.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

 

Education - Doctoral / Professional Degree - In Computer Science, Mathematics/Statistics, or related field.
Work Experience -  5+ years in data intensive research area, doctoral research included.

COMPENSATION INFORMATION

 

Anticipated Hiring Range: $107,000.00 - $119,815.00
 

Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.

ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL

 

Normal Operations
Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations.
