JOB SUMMARY:

 

The Director of Learning Environments is responsible for the planning, management, and maintenance of facility needs for R.M. Cooper Library, providing guidance, assistance, and consultative services with leaders at other properties (Gunnin Architecture Library, CU-ICAR Library, and the Education Media Center). The Director will serve as a liaison to central University Facilities and custodial services and is responsible for training students, faculty, and staff on the use of Library facilities. Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES:

 

50% - Essential - Facilities Management & Planning: Oversees comprehensive operations of R.M. Cooper Library and all other library branches/properties. Directs and manages space planning, design, allocation, and wayfinding. Manages and executes project planning for annual facilities renewals and improvements. Monitors building utilities including HVAC, water, electric, and locks/securities and collaborates with central facilities to ensure all building utilities are in proper working order. Coordinates essential maintenance projects including carpeting, painting, and furniture updates. Conducts annual furniture inventories and ensures spaces accommodate diverse student learning needs. Provides direct support to library leadership across all properties, participates in feasibility studies and strategic planning initiatives, and executes projects of varying scales. Serves on committees including the Accessibility Commission, Emergency Management Council, and Library Council.
20% - Essential - Central Facilities Liaison: Serves as the primary Libraries liaison for all central University Facilities, including custodial, maintenance, groundskeeping, space planning, construction, and project planning. Liaises with Clemson University Occupational and Environmental Safety to ensure proper adherence to safety policies and procedures.
20% - Essential - Emergency Preparedness: Leads emergency response and disaster preparedness for the Libraries. Maintains compliance with University requirements through annual training completion, signage and evacuating map updates, and regular safety checks. Serves as the Libraries Disaster Team Chair, coordinating regular and timely staff training, overseeing collection remediation facilities, and maintains disaster response supplies. Provides emergency response to incidents of any scale during off-hours, to include weekends and holidays.
10% - Essential - Supervision: Hires and trains employees and supervises their work performance. Counsels as necessary. Sets goals and objectives.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

 

Education - Bachelor's Degree 
Work Experience - 1+ years of relevant project management experience

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

 

Education - Bachelor's Degree - Construction Science and Management
Work Experience - 2+ years of project management and execution experience. Familiarity with AutoCAD software preferred

Provides Budget Input - Provides input into the budgeting process, and oversees fund allocation.

COMPENSATION INFORMATION

 

Anticipated Hiring Range: $56,200.00 - $82,000.00
 

Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.

ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL

 

Essential Level 2 employee
Required to maintain/resume essential support functions, deliver direct care services, and/or provide recovery support before normal operations resume. Some positions in this category may be required to work remotely or be on-call.
