JOB SUMMARY:

 

Responsible for the fiscal strategy and portfolio management of financial operations for the assigned complex, large-scale division/college(s) to include diverse set of funding sources. Develops financial strategies and decision support materials, overseeing budget management, financial reporting, and resourcing new initiatives. Works closely with senior leadership to ensure the fiscal health and sustainability of the division/college while managing a team of professionals responsible for financial operations. Other duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES:

 

30% - Essential - Financial Strategy and Planning: Collaborate with division/college leadership to develop, refine, and implement financial models, procedures, and policies that support the division/college's strategic priorities. Conduct in-depth financial analyses to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, advise leadership through actionable insights to guide decision-making and ensure alignment of resources with unit priorities and strategies and implement plans. Build annual actual-based budgets for the assigned division/college.
25% - Essential - Financial Performance Monitoring: Proactively monitor and assess key financial metrics across all funds to track performance against targets, highlighting areas of concern and recommending corrective actions. Perform monthly projections for all funds within the unit's portfolio to account for uncertainties and fluctuations in revenues. Provide monthly updates to leadership and implement corrective actions as required to meet financial targets. Evaluates the financial performance of programs, departments, and administrative units to identify areas for improvement, cost-saving opportunities, rate adjustments, and resource allocation optimization.
25% - Essential - Reporting: Utilize financial systems to interpret complex financial and operational data. Performs multi-unit and/or external reporting. Clearly communicate findings to facilitate informed decision-making by senior management and stakeholders. Identify and execute appropriate communication methods to keep stakeholders informed and invested in the division/college's overarching strategies.
10% - Essential - Leadership: Accountable for all business functions and activities within the assigned division/college's financial personnel. Lead and supervise the Business Office team and a team of financial accountants within the division/college, overseeing the financial functions of the division/college's budget. Conduct annual performance evaluations for all direct reports. Provide leadership and set the strategic direction for financial planning, execution, and implementation in accordance with university policies and procedures. Lead teams in the preparation of presentations and reports for leadership as needed. Deploy financial training, policy changes, and implementation of best financial practices within the assigned division/college.

10% - Essential - Personnel Planning: Collaborate with the office of human resources on salary analysis for assigned unit and manage financial impacts. Leads team in ensuring timekeeping processes, policies and procedures are followed and assists team with hiring processes as needed.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

 

Education -  1st Bachelor's Degree - Accounting, finance or related field
Work Exp 5+ years

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises Work of Others - Supervises work of others and may offer recommendations for hiring, termination and pay adjustments but does not have responsibility for making these decisions.
BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Develops Department Budgets - Responsible for developing one or more departmental budget(s). Estimated amount of budgetary responsibility in dollar amount must be added.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

 

  30% - Sit (stationary position) for prolonged period
  50% - Communicate, converse, give direction, express oneself
  50% - Recognize or inspect visually

WORKING CONDITIONS:

 

    - Overnight Travel

May require some overnight travel.  May require working beyond normal working hours during peak periods.

Standard Hrs: 37.5

COMPENSATION INFORMATION

 

Expected Salary Range ($ 79,600.00 - $ 133,800.00)
 

Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.

ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL

 

Normal Operations
Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations.
