JOB SUMMARY:
The Fire Safety Officer II Paramedic (NFPA Firefighter II) protects life and property by providing Fire & Emergency Medical Services response including, but not limited to fire suppression, emergency medical care, hazardous materials, technical rescue, fire and injury prevention and educational programs. Performs other duties as assigned.
JOB DUTIES:
50% - Essential - Responsible for responding to scenes of fires, disasters or other emergency incidents; protecting life and
property through controlling, extinguishing and preventing fires; provides emergency medical services; responds
to manmade and natural disasters. In emergency situations, performs hazardous tasks requiring strenuous
physical exertion for extended periods of time. Delivers safe medical care and treatment based on the individual
needs of the patient and in accordance with medical protocols and department policies and procedures.
35% - Essential - Administrative: Actively conducts occupancy pre-incident plans, performs fire prevention, public
education, and public relations activities while projecting a professional public image. Accurately
completes electronic forms, incident reports, and other documentation as required. Maintains
compliance with required OSHA Programs to include Fire Brigade Clearance, Respiratory
Protection, Exposure Control Program. Maintains EMS certification and maintains medical
control sponsorship/authorization.
15% - Essential - Supervisory: Work is performed under the direction of a commanding officer but the individual
must take initiative and exercise independent judgment in emergency situations. This position
has no supervisory responsibilities, however may require giving assignments and/or directions
to to co-workers or members of the public during emergency operations per NIMS-ICS as a
resource leader or team member; May serve as Initial Incident Commander until relieved as
required.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education - High School or Equivalent
Valid SC Driver's License
NIMS 100-Intro Incident Command Sys-ICS
NIMS 200-Beginning ICS
NIMS 700-Intro Nat Incident Management System-NIMS
NIMS 800
Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation
AEMT-PARAMEDIC
Ability to maintain continuous medical control sponsorship
Work Experience 1+ years - 12 consecutive months of firefighting and/or EMS field experience
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
Education - Associate's Degree - Fire Science, Emergency Services, or other related field
Firefighter Survival (SCFA 1139 or equivalent)
Rescuing Our Own -RIT - (SCFA 1140 or equivalent).
Work Experience - 1+ years of full time paid firefighter experience and/or 1+ year of full time paid Advanced EMT or Paramedic experience

COMPENSATION INFORMATION
Expected Salary Range: $50,782.39 - $63,960.38
Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.
ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL
Essential Level 2 employee
Required to maintain/resume essential support functions, deliver direct care services, and/or provide recovery support before normal operations resume. Some positions in this category may be required to work remotely or be on-call.
