JOB SUMMARY:

 

Clemson University's Clemson Computing and Information Technology (CCIT) Department is looking for a Team Lead Consultant to fulfill the following duties:

  • Manages and coordinates the activities of assigned support areas to include technical consulting, project management, systems administration, and technical support for hardware and software used in the support area. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES:

 

40% - Essential - Technical Support and Consulting:
Provides and oversees technical support to community members through in-person & remote visits, phone calls, or email. Troubleshoots software and hardware issues, identifies root causes, and implements solutions promptly. Provides technical guidance for assigned staff. Serves as the initial support contact for classroom technology and video conferencing systems. Monitors the day-to-day service request activity ensuring timely and accurate problem resolution. Assesses IT needs and requirements through interviews with support area personnel and compiles data to make recommendations based on findings. Provides on-call and after hours support, including weekends, as needed.
30% - Essential - Compliance and Project Management:
Ensures that software and hardware purchases meet university standards and policies. Monitors and assists in planning current and future computing needs by maintaining awareness of the IT industry regarding hardware and software applicable to the University through participation in weekly/monthly technical meetings and engaging in technical discussions with other IT staff. Completes training as required by the department or University.
20% - Essential - Personnel & Operations Management:
Manages staff ie. job postings, interviews, etc, prepares work schedules, assigns specific duties, and approves and manages leave requests. Performs yearly EPMS and Planning Stage reviews of direct reports. Creates training and career plans for direct reports. Coaches direct reports on an ongoing basis
to ensure training and career goals are being met. Provides guidance on complex computer technical problems to support staff. Participates in developing strategic objectives for the IT department.
10% -Essential - Documentation:
Maintains accurate records of IT support requests, resolutions, and service activities within the Clemson approved documentation system. Contributes to and assists with
maintaining a knowledge base of common issues and resolutions to assist other technical staff. Ensures team members are documenting all work requests within the documentation system.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

 

Education - Bachelor's Degree

Work Experience - Experience in automated information or communication system design, installation, operation, repair, sales or marketing. Related experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

 

Work Experience - 5+ Years or 10+ Years experience in information technology or a related field and 1-2 Years supervisory experience.

BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITIES
No Budget Responsibilities - No fiscal responsibility for the department's budget.

   5% - Overnight Travel

WORK SCHEDULE:

 

Standard Hours: 37.5 / Week

COMPENSATION INFORMATION

 

Expected Salary Range:  ($ 68,397.00 - $ 114,386.00)
 

Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.

ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL

 

Normal Operations
Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations.
