JOB SUMMARY:
The College Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for visitors, callers, and guests entering the Harvey S. Peeler Jr. College of Veterinary Medicine main HUB building. This position is responsible for creating a welcoming, professional, and organized reception area while providing general information, routing inquiries appropriately, and supporting college-wide administrative operations. The role works closely with administrative staff across the College to ensure smooth day-to-day public interactions and consistent communication.
JOB DUTIES:
45% - Essential - Receptionist:
Greet all visitors to the College of Veterinary Medicine in a professional, courteous, and welcoming manner. Provide general information about the College and direct visitors to appropriate offices, classrooms, or meeting locations. Maintain visitor tracking log and notify staff of visitor arrivals. Coordinate hand-off to hosts as needed. Maintain an organized and welcoming front desk and lobby area, including signage and informational materials. Maintain guest parking passes and the required tracking log. Assist with parking validation when warranted.
25% - Essential - Telephone & Communication Support:
Serve as secondary phone support for the College, assisting callers whose needs were not resolved by the automated call handling system. Appropriately triage, route, or take messages for calls requiring personal assistance. Provide accurate information or connect callers with the correct department or individual. Maintain professionalism and confidentiality in all communications.
15% - Essential - Administrative & College Support
Assist administrative staff across the College with overflow work, including phone coverage, document preparation, and basic clerical tasks. Provide coverage support during peak times, staff absences, or special events. Support special projects and short-term administrative needs as assigned. Operate standard office equipment (computer, phone system, copier).
15% - Essential - Events & Public-Facing Activities:
Assist with day-of support for college events, meetings, and tours, including greeting guests and providing directions. Help maintain basic hospitality supplies and public-facing materials for the front desk area.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education - High School or Equivalent. Related clerical experience may be substituted for a high school diploma.
Work Experience in customer service and excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with a wide range of internal and external audiences. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

COMPENSATION INFORMATION
Expected Salary Range ($ 30,700.00 - $ 45,000.00)
Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.
ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL
Normal Operations
Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations.
