JOB SUMMARY:

 

Reporting directly to the college Business Officer, serves as Business Center Manager and manages all financial operations for multiple assigned departments. Coordinates with faculty and staff on grant activities. Performs other duties as assigned. High level of confidentiality and discretion required.

JOB DUTIES:

 

45% - Essential - Financial Management:
Manages financial operations and ensures compliance with associated federal and state laws. Prepares complex accounting reports. Manages and directs the preparation and reconciliation of accounts. Collects, assimilates, and ensures accuracy of financial data for internal and external reporting requirements. Reconciles situations when files are out of balance. Researches errors and ensures corrective action is taken. Prepares and submits annual budgets and budget requests.  Provides internal auditing and liaison services. Advises Chairs and Directors on availability and allocation of funding for department initiatives.
40% - Essential - Sponsored Project Management and Compliance:
Manages financial aspects of post-award grant activities from award to close-out including required cost-sharing. Analyzes state, federal, and grant budgetary procedures for fiscal requirements.  Works closely with the college grants office (CRCA), and Grants and Contracts Administration (GCA).  Ensures PI approval is obtained on all expenditures and that expenditures are both allowable and allocable on the project to which they are being charged.
15% - Essential - Other: (a) Reviews, analyzes and evaluates existing and varied functions to develop improvements in efficiency, effectiveness, and productivity. Develop program performance standards. (b) Facilitates inventory of assets for the department & ensures annual report is completed accurately & by specified deadlines. (c) Directs, supervises, and evaluates the performance of assigned accounting staff.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

 

Education -  1st Bachelor's Degree (accounting, finance, business or related field and professional experience directly related) - or an equivalent combination of education & experience as approved by the Office of Human Resources
Work Exp 2+ years

Manages Work of Others - Manages work of others including hiring, terminating, training and developing, reviewing performance and administering corrective action for staff. Plans organizational structure and job content.
BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Develops Department Budgets - Responsible for developing one or more departmental budget(s). Estimated amount of budgetary responsibility in dollar amount must be added.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

WORK SCHEDULE:

 

Standard Hrs: 37.5, Monday-Friday, 8am-4:30pm

COMPENSATION INFORMATION

 

Band: 06 ($ 46,655.00 - $ 68, 008.78)
 

Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.

ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL

 

Normal Operations
Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations.
