JOB SUMMARY:

 

The Director of MarCom for CAAC (College of Architecture, Arts and Construction) leads strategic, integrated communications that position the college effectively in alignment with the university's broader marketing plan. Works closely with CAAC leadership to develop and execute marketing strategies that support institutional goals and measure growth opportunities. Oversees storytelling, creative and marketing projects across print, digital, video, web, social media, photography, events, and media relations. Plays a key role in communicating the university's mission and priorities to internal and external audiences. Other duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES:

 

30% - Essential - Strategic Planning and Management:
Lead the development of a strategic marketing and communications plan for the College of Architecture, Arts and Construction (CAAC) that supports institutional priorities and strengthens awareness and reputation. Collaborate with departments to create area-specific marketing goals aligned with the college's overall strategy. Serve as a senior communications advisor to CAAC leadership, shaping key messages, strategic priorities, and crisis communications. Use market research and stakeholder insights to guide strategy, identify emerging challenges, and implement effective communication solutions.
25% - Essential - Branding:
Oversee the CAAC's brand, ensuring consistency with the University's brand in messaging and visual representation across all platforms and media. Work with MarCom to ensure proper use of university trademarks in materials, merchandise, giveaways, etc. Assist with University-wide brand events as requested by the Vice President of Marketing and Communications to engage constituents with the University and the CAAC brand.
20% - Essential - Communications:
Develop and manage internal and external communications that keep faculty, staff, students, and stakeholders informed and engaged with CAAC initiatives, achievements, and priorities. Create unified messaging and compelling content such as press releases, articles, speeches, and publications that highlight the college's research, faculty, students, alumni, and events. Collaborate with academic and administrative departments and the university's Marketing and Communications team to ensure consistent messaging, coordinate media relations, and support executive communications. Also manage crisis communication in alignment with university protocols.
15% - Essential - Marketing:
Lead storytelling efforts that highlight achievements of faculty, staff, student achievements, research breakthroughs, alumni success, and community impact. Oversee the development of all marketing and communications material's including print, digital, web, email, and social media to maintain a strong and engaging presence. Collaborate with Enrollment Management to develop and implement a strategic MarCom plan for recruitment and yield cycles. Collaborate with Advancement to develop marketing and communication material for donor relations and the capital campaign. Monitor and analyze communication metrics to evaluate effectiveness and adjust strategies.
10% - Essential - Operations:
Provide regular reports on communication effectiveness using analytics, surveys, and other metrics while analyzing audience perceptions and improving the overall customer experience. Prepare and manage marketing and communications budgetary expenses, supervise project workflows and assigned staff, and collaborate with MarCom project managers to ensure deadlines are met.  Participate in CAAC leadership and team meetings and assist with additional duties as needed.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

 

Education - Bachelor's Degree - Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or related field
Work Experience - 5+ years

Standard Hours: 37.5/week

COMPENSATION INFORMATION

 

Expected Salary Range: $ 79,600.00 - $ 93,000.00
 

Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.

ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL

 

Normal Operations
Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations.
