ECOLLECTIONS ACCESS AND LICENSING LIBRARIAN

Clemson University Libraries invites candidates for an eCollections Access and Licensing Librarian to join its Collections & Discovery Division. The Libraries’ materials budget is currently $9.5 million with over 80% spent on electronic resources. Electronic resources managed by the eResources team include e-books, e-journals, databases, streaming media, and data sets. This position plays an integral role in ensuring our collections are discoverable and accessible through eresources work, including licensing, negotiations, troubleshooting access issues, and the trialing and marketing of new resources.

Clemson Libraries migrated to Alma/Primo VE in June 2020 and is part of a statewide Network Zone that includes 54 other institutions in the Partnership Among South Carolina Academic Libraries (PASCAL) consortium.

Clemson Libraries faculty are members of the academic community, with responsibilities in the areas of librarianship, scholarship, and service. This is a 12-month tenure-track faculty position and works under the direction of the Head of Collections and Acquisitions within the Collections and Discovery division.

Responsibilities include:

Electronic Resources Librarianship

  • Manages the eResources team, including direct supervision of staff members
  • Reviews contracts and licenses and routes through appropriate channels of approval.
  • Assists with monitoring existing transformative agreements and explores and negotiates new Open Access opportunities.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves electronic resource access problems. Works cooperatively with the Libraries’ Digital Strategies team to resolve issues. Participates in maintenance of EZproxy for authentication.
  • Provides information to public services about new resources, changes to existing resources, and resource outages. Engages with library colleagues to maintain the Libraries’ discovery tool.
  • Develops and implements proactive processes to identify electronic access issues before they become problems for users.
  • Develops vendor and publisher relationships: schedules and coordinates demos, trials, and training with account representatives and gathers feedback from library and campus partners.
  • Maintains awareness of current and emerging trends and technologies pertaining to electronic resources.
  • Maintains vendor contact database
  • Collaborates with colleagues across the division, including the eResources Discovery Librarian and the Continuing Resources Librarian to maintain reliable access to electronic content.
  • Develops relevant policies, procedures, and workflows.
  • Provides leadership for electronic resources assessment to support collection development.

Develops a focused program of high-quality research and creative accomplishments, consistent with professional responsibilities and the Libraries’ mission and goals.

Service

Actively participates and demonstrates leadership in professional responsibilities that serve the Libraries, university, profession, and community.

Salary and Benefits

Faculty rank and minimum salary of $62,100 based on the successful candidate's qualifications and experience. Various medical plans, dental plans, and retirement plans are available. 18 days annual leave, 15 days sick leave, 13 paid holidays, and liberal professional development leave are provided. Library faculty receive an individual stipend for travel or other professional development activity.
