JOB SUMMARY:

 

Reviews research protocol describing human subjects research activities for compliance with institutional requirements and relevant state/federal regulations. Coordinates the review and approval of protocol submissions and supplemental documents. Carries out other duties and responsibilities as assigned. 

JOB DUTIES:

 

50% - Essential - Conducts regulations-based review of research protocol submissions to ensure federal regulatory compliance. Interprets  and applies federal, state, and local regulations along with institutional policies and guidelines when conducting an analysis of the proposed research project. Identifies potential problems with protocol submissions and requests modifications as appropriate. Communicates with and assists researchers to meet compliance requirements to secure the approval of their research.
25% - Essential - Distributes timely written notifications to researchers (and designee) regarding IRB actions.  Notifies reviewers of concerns regarding human subject protections that may need additional review and analysis prior to approval. Maintains confidentiality of compliance review and sensitive information. Provides support for protocols throughout the research lifecycle.
15% - Essential - Maintains working knowledge of applicable University policies, local, state and federal laws and regulations  influencing the conduct of human subject research. Contributes to the division's overall mission to protect the rights and welfare of human subjects involved in research.
10% - Essential - Aids the IRB Manager in the development and maintenance of compliance program, including, but not limited to educational materials, IRB webpages, associated forms and policies and internal procedures. Carries out other duties and responsibilities as assigned. 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

 

Education - Bachelor's Degree and relevant program experience. 

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

 

IRB experience or experience working in a regulatory office preferred.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
No Supervisory Duties - Not responsible for supervising employees.
BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITIES
No Budget Responsibilities - No fiscal responsibility for the department's budget.

COMPENSATION INFORMATION

 

Expected Salary Range: ($ 37,860.00 - $ 47,000.00)

Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.

ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL

 

Normal Operations
Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations.
