JOB SUMMARY:
Oversees the development and implementation of policies, procedures and trainings focused on proactively managing the health, safety and security of Clemson's Global Engagement activities. This position assesses and evaluates potential risk, oversees compliance within global engagement activities, and coordinates emergency response. Other duties as assigned.
JOB DUTIES:
25% - Essential - Policy Development, Review and Implementation: Develops and interprets university-wide policies, procedures, and practices relating to student international travel, focusing on risk management, university liability, emergency preparedness and crisis management. Coordinates the alignment and integration of international risk management policy and procedures with associated policies across the institution. Leads the implementation of policy and risk management activities of the Office of Global Engagement (OGE), coordinate High Risk Travel Reviews and serve on the High Risk Travel Advisory Group (HRTAG).
25% - Essential - Crisis Management: Initiates collaborative efforts across the institution to establish risk management protocols related to university global engagement. Supervises proactive emergency and contingency planning and post-action review. Serves as primary crisis manager for emergencies abroad, working with insurers and on-site emergency response providers as appropriate. Manages complex emergencies within the University structure, collaborating closely with the education abroad director, leadership in the colleges, and the Emergency Operations Center (EOC). Represents OGE when working with emergency and crisis related teams. Coordinates with the EOC and Student Affairs in the management of incidents involving the health and safety of international students and scholars at Clemson.
25% - Essential - Risk Assessment, Training and Outreach: Monitors world events, prominent health, safety and legal issues affecting international education. Implements risk assessment and analysis for international programming initiatives, and for High Risk destinations. Conducts international site visits upon request. Effectively communicate risk assessments, policies and protocols to necessary stakeholders. Develops communication plan and risk management trainings for global engagement activities, including the development of on-line training modules. Coordinates and leads workshops related to health and safety.
15% - Essential - Compliance: Monitors compliance with the university policies and all associated requirements, including student health and disciplinary eligibility screening. Coordinates with academic and administrative units regarding policies, practices or procedures. Supports university compliance with laws, and regulations related to health and safety abroad including FERPA, HIPAA, Section 504 and the ADA, Title IX, Clery Act, and insurance requirements for visiting students and scholars.
10% - Non-Essential - Professional Development: Stays current with health, safety, security and risk management best practices pertaining to international education. Makes presentations pertaining to the field at conferences, as appropriate.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education - Bachelor's Degree
Experience - 2+ years of health, safety and risk management experience
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
Education - Master's Degree
Experience - 5+ years of experience with international risk management and analysis. Preference will be given to those with experience working with international education or study abroad programs.

COMPENSATION INFORMATION
Anticipated Hiring Range($65,000.00 - $78,000.00)
Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.
ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL
Normal Operations
Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations.
