JOB SUMMARY:

 

Work cooperatively with county and state staff to coordinate the statewide aspects of the South Carolina Master Gardener Volunteer (SCMGV) Program. Train Extension agents, volunteers, and other stakeholders about consumer horticulture topics. Other duties as assigned. and will serve on the Extension Horticulture Team's state staff. Other duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES:

 

60% - Essential: Coordinate, manage, and evaluate the South Carolina Master Gardener Volunteer program at the statewide level. Provide training, technical assistance, and support to local Master Gardener coordinators, agents, and program assistants. Coordinate all communications and promotional materials via email, newsletters, and social media. Plan and coordinate statewide Master Gardener meetings and advanced Master Gardener volunteer training, including volunteer recognition efforts. Compile initiative outcomes for quarterly and annual reports and prepare summary documents and presentations as needed.
20% - Essential: Effectively manage collaboration between agents, community stakeholders, and Master Gardener volunteers. Collaborate with horticulture team members and statewide program efforts (Home & Garden Information Center, School & Community Gardening program, Making It Grow, the South Carolina Botanical Garden, etc.). Collaborate with other Extension program teams in program development and delivery.
10% - Essential: Responsible for resource development, management, and sustainability to support Master Gardener Volunteer programming to include grants, contracts, legal agreements, gifts, in-kind support, sponsorships, revenue generated, local and state appropriated funds and/or other types of funding. Establish partnerships to benefit and help connect Master Gardeners to their local communities and resources.
10% - Essential: Attend program specific, office, and Extension team meetings and trainings as assigned by supervisor.  Communicate effectively, both verbally and through written correspondence to Extension and program administrators. Identify and participate in opportunities for self-improvement and professional development such as professional and in-service trainings that may require travel out of assigned territory.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

 

Education:  Bachelor's Degree - Relevant program experience.
Education:  Bachelor's Degree - Horticulture or closely related field.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

 

Education: Master's Degree - Horticulture, Environmental Science, Agriculture Education, Nonprofit Management, Communication or related field
Work Experience: 3+ years

COMPENSATION INFORMATION

 

Anticipated Salary Range: $46,700 - $86,321
 

Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.

ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL

 

Normal Operations
Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations.
