Clemson University Position Announcement: C. Tycho Howle Director, School of Computing

The Clemson University School of Computing invites applications for the Director of the School of Computing. The individual who holds this administrative position serves as the executive officer of the school. Candidates are expected to merit the rank of Professor with tenure in the School of Computing at the time of appointment and have an internationally recognized record of scholarship and leadership, with demonstrated administrative experience in building world-class educational and research programs, and the ability to recruit and mentor a diverse group of talent to work effectively in a large enterprise.

The school seeks a Director who conveys a compelling vision to propel the School of Computing to be among the top academic organizations in its field in the country. The Director must provide leadership with shared governance in areas including research and funding, faculty and student recruiting, promotion and tenure, curriculum development, and diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility.

The School of Computing comprises three academic units representing a broad cross-section of computing and its applications:

1. The Division of Computer Science
2. The Division of Visual Computing
3. The Division of Human-Centered Computing

The school includes 53 faculty, of which 39 are tenured or tenure-track. It enrolls over 1000 undergraduate and over 250 graduate students. The School offers BA and BS degrees in Computer Science, BS in Computer Information Systems, PhD and MS in Computer Science, MFA and MS in Digital Production Arts, PhD in Human-Centered Computing, PhD and MS in Biomedical Data Science & Informatics, and a Masters in Applied Computing.

Clemson is the public land grant institution of South Carolina and is classified in the highest research category by the Carnegie Foundation.
