JOB SUMMARY:
The Career & Alumni Services Coordinator plays a critical role in supporting student success beyond the classroom by facilitating career development, employer engagement, and alumni relations for students enrolled in the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) program. This individual ensures that students approaching graduation are prepared to navigate the job market with confidence and are connected to employment opportunities, professional organizations, and ongoing College support after graduation. The Career & Alumni Services Coordinator also serves as a liaison between the College and its alumni, fostering lasting engagement and collaboration to enhance the student experience, support institutional advancement, and build professional networks for graduates. Perform other duties as assigned.
JOB DUTIES:
50% - Essential - Career Services: Design and implement tailored career development programs that prepare students for the challenges of entering professional practice, including contract negotiation, practice/business ownership, credentialing, licensure, and NAVLE registration/examination timelines. Create and deliver educational content in the Professional Development Unit of the curriculum in the areas of career preparation. Collaborate with faculty and student organizations to embed career-related programming into co-curricular activities and experiences. Maintain a centralized system (e.g., Handshake, Symplicity) for job postings, externships, internships, and employer connections. Organize career fairs, employer panels, and networking events to connect students with prospective employers. Provide one-on-one advising to students nearing graduation, supporting decisions related to job offers, geographic mobility, compensation and benefits analysis, and employer due diligence.
25% - Essential - Employer & Industry Engagement: Cultivate and maintain strong partnerships with private practices, hospitals, and sectors that align with the College's academic and service missions. Lead recruitment and placement efforts by organizing employer info sessions, job fairs, targeted networking receptions, and virtual panels focused on post-graduate opportunities. Educate employers about the College's mission and graduate profiles, while coaching students on how to assess culture fit, mentorship potential, and long-term growth at prospective sites. Partner with the Director of Outcomes Assessment to collect relevant data related to graduate outcomes and employment placement.
25% - Essential - Alumni Relations: Develop and implement a dynamic alumni engagement strategy focused on long-term connection, mentorship, and professional development. Build and sustain an alumni mentor network that supports early-career transition, particularly in niche fields (e.g., food animal medicine, rural health, etc.) or underrepresented geographies. Collaborate with alumni to serve as guest speakers, recruiters, preceptors, and contributors to the professional identity formation of current students. Develop and implement strategies to engage alumni through events, mentorship programs, newsletters, and social media in partnership with the Director of Marketing and Communication. Maintain up-to-date alumni contact information and collaborate with Institutional Advancement or Alumni Affairs as appropriate.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education - Bachelor's Degree
Work Experience - 3+ years in career services, alumni engagement, student services, employer relations, or a closely related area. Demonstrated experience planning events or workshops.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
Education - Master's Degree - higher education, student affairs, or related field.
Work Experience - 5+ years working a professional school or graduate-level academic setting. Familiarity with vet med employment trends and hiring practices. Experience with career management software (e.g. Handshake).

Overnight Travel (5%)
Other - requires occasional evening and weekend hours to support events and alumni programs. Occasional travel may be required for employer outreach and professional conferences.

COMPENSATION INFORMATION
Anticipated Hiring Range: $39,300.00 - $66,800.00
Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.
ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL
Normal Operations
Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations.
