JOB SUMMARY:
Performs routine electrical work on campus primary electrical distribution systems, industrial systems, outdoor lighting systems, and traffic control systems requiring professional skill and technical knowledge. Other duties as assigned.
JOB DUTIES:
30% - Essential - Medium Voltage Distribution System Electrician: Performs predictive and preventative maintenance, repair and construction associated with campus primary electrical distribution systems (12470V/4160V), including tasks such as maintenance, repair, replacement or new construction to underground duct bank cable systems, including tunnel system, manholes, underground vaults, overhead lines and poles, circuit switching equipment, substations, transformers, maintaining utility right of ways and building switchgear. Safely operates heavy equipment associated with installation and repair including trenchers, backhoes, telehandlers, digger derricks, and bucket trucks.
30% - Essential - Maintain and Update Campus Site Lighting:
Perform maintenance, repair and installation of campus site lighting, underground wiring and lighting control and systems including walkways, streets, parking lots and other outdoor areas. Update and replace existing lighting systems with higher quality and more energy efficient fixtures as directed. Set up and operate special power and lighting systems required for campus functions.
20% - Essential - Safety, Training, and Mentorship: Promotes a safe workplace and safe work practices at all times. Complies with all applicable OSHA safety mandates and enforcement of University LOTO policy. Complies with all NEC and NESC rules and regulations, completing all relevant training. Promotes positive and productive relationships within and between shops. Leads, guides, and/or trains other electricians in applicable procedures and techniques. Completes the required training and testing to maintain applicable licensing.
10% - Essential - Traffic Signal Maintenance and Repair:
Perform maintenance, repair, and installation of campus traffic signal systems including control cabinets, signal heads, vehicle detection systems, pedestrian push buttons, and signage. Setup, maintain, and remove temporary work zones as designed including warning signs, traffic cones, and stop/slow paddles.
10% - Essential - Electrical Utility Plant Maintenance:
Maintains, repairs or replaces electrical equipment and apparatus, including single and three phase motors, starters, generators, fused and non-fused disconnect switches and circuit breakers. Reads and understands plans and specifications and applies them to work in the field. Lays out and installs electrical conduit systems consisting of rigid steel, electrical metallic tubing, plastic ducting and prefabricated bus duct. Collaborates with customers to ensure customer satisfaction.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education - High School Diploma or Equivalent and experience in the construction or repair of secondary electrical systems. Relevant experience may be substituted for the required diploma on a year-for-year basis.
Licenses - Driver's License Class A CDL

Work Experience: 3+ years

WORK SCHEDULE:
Monday - Friday, 7:00 am - 3:00pm, subject to overtime and callbacks. Standard Hours: 40
COMPENSATION INFORMATION
Expected Salary Range: ($ 45,000.00 - $ 60,000.00)
Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.
ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL
Essential Level 2 employee
Required to maintain/resume essential support functions, deliver direct care services, and/or provide recovery support before normal operations resume. Some positions in this category may be required to work remotely or be on-call.
