JOB SUMMARY:

 

The academic advising and coaching specialist provides developmental and individualized academic and coaching for undergraduate students to support their success at Clemson. Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES:

 

55% - Essential - ACADEMIC ADVISING: Provides accurate and timely information to assigned advisees regarding academic planning, including, but not limited to general education, major, and minor curricular requirements, academic policies, and procedures. Maintains collaborative relationships with campus partners in support of these responsibilities. Maintains accurate records of interactions with students.
35% - Essential - ACADEMIC COACHING: Supports academic coaching students in developing learning and personal success strategies, including, but not limited to, time management/organization, accountability/motivation, goal setting, and test preparation/nervousness. Maintains accurate records of interactions with students.
10% - Essential - UNIT/DEPARTMENT SUPPORT: Assists with coordination of unit programs and initiatives, including unit engagement in university wide programs and initiatives related to academic advising and coaching. Participates in departmental outreach activities to students, faculty, and staff. Delivers targeted student success programming (non-credit bearing) for undergraduate students. Supports assessment and program evaluation activities.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

 

Education: Bachelor's Degree 

Experience: 1 year of experience in student services programs

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

 

Education:  Master's Degree

Experience: 2 years of experience in advising, coaching, or student services

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

JOB KNOWLEDGE
Firm Job Knowledge - Firm working knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures and ability to use in varied situations
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
No Supervisory Duties - Not responsible for supervising employees.
BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITIES
No Budget Responsibilities - No fiscal responsibility for the department's budget.

  Sit (stationary position) for prolonged period
  Communicate, converse, give direction, express oneself

COMPENSATION INFORMATION

 

Anticipated Hiring Range: ($44,000.00 - $47,874.00)
 

Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.

ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL

 

Normal Operations
Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations.
