ASSISTANT PROFESSOR - COMPUTER ENGINEERING
Clemson, SCOne of the country’s most selective public research universities, Clemson University serves a uniquely driven and highly accomplished student body.
Ranked consistently as one of the best national public university by U.S.News & World Report, Clemson is a science- and engineering-oriented college dedicated to teaching, research and service. Founded in 1889, we remain committed both to world-class research and a high quality of life. In fact, 91 percent of our seniors say they’d pick Clemson again if they had it to do over.
Clemson’s retention and graduation rates rank among the highest in the country for public universities. We’ve been named among the best values by Kiplinger magazine in 2013, and SmartMoney in 2012 ranked us No. 7 in student return on investment.
Our beautiful college campus sits on 1,400 acres in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, along the shores of Hartwell Lake. But we also have research facilities and economic development hubs throughout the state of South Carolina — in Greenville, Greenwood, Columbia and Charleston.
The Holcombe Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Clemson University is seeking applicants for three positions, two in the area of digital circuits, and one in the area of robotics. Specific desirable attributes for candidates include a strong interest in interdisciplinary collaborative research with faculty members within the department, across the university, and with industrial partners. For the digital circuits area we seek early career applicants at the rank of Assistant Professor. Research areas may broadly include VLSI, ASIC, integrated circuits, mixed analog and digital circuits, and system/network on a chip. Problem types/scales may include high-performance computing, energy-efficient computing and processors, AI/ML accelerators including edge computing hardware, reconfigurable computing, biomedical circuits, hardware security, neuromorphic computing including in/near memory computing, electronic design automation, and HW/SW co-design. Research problems may overlap other focus areas within the department, such as communications (e.g. cognitive radio systems, MIMO systems on chip, RF circuit design for 5G/6G, satellite communications hardware, THz communication circuits), power (low power interfaces, power electronics, wireless power transfer), and photonics (optical devices and circuits, optical processor for AI). The robotics position is open to all ranks. Research areas may include biomedical, vehicular, industrial, aerospace, and agriculture. We will also consider applicants with expertise in swarm/multi-agent, human interaction, learning, sensors, control, and computer vision.
The Holcombe Department of ECE is one of the largest and most active departments at Clemson University, with 44 full-time faculty members, approximately 600 undergraduates, and 190 graduate students. Annual research expenditures exceed $13 million. Members of the faculty include five IEEE Fellows, four endowed chairs, and six named professors. The ECE department offers ABET-accredited B.S. programs in electrical engineering and computer engineering, along with M.S. and Ph.D. programs in both disciplines, as well as M.S. and Ph.D. programs in Photonic Science and Technology.
