Clemson, SCOne of the country’s most selective public research universities, Clemson University serves a uniquely driven and highly accomplished student body.
Ranked consistently as one of the best national public university by U.S.News & World Report, Clemson is a science- and engineering-oriented college dedicated to teaching, research and service. Founded in 1889, we remain committed both to world-class research and a high quality of life. In fact, 91 percent of our seniors say they’d pick Clemson again if they had it to do over.
Clemson’s retention and graduation rates rank among the highest in the country for public universities. We’ve been named among the best values by Kiplinger magazine in 2013, and SmartMoney in 2012 ranked us No. 7 in student return on investment.
Our beautiful college campus sits on 1,400 acres in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, along the shores of Hartwell Lake. But we also have research facilities and economic development hubs throughout the state of South Carolina — in Greenville, Greenwood, Columbia and Charleston.
The College of Engineering, Computing and Applied Sciences at Clemson University is seeking outstanding candidates for a tenure-track faculty appointment at the Assistant Professor level. The position is a joint appointment between Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering (ChBE) and Materials Science and Engineering (MSE), with the primary appointment in ChBE. Tenure will be awarded in ChBE, but the faculty member will have access to graduate students from both departments. As such, candidates whose work bridges ChBE and MSE are strongly encouraged to apply. The university is home to several Innovation Campuses that provide outstanding facilities for interdisciplinary collaborations. In addition, there are several interdisciplinary research centers. Of particular interest for this position is the Advanced Materials Research Lab. Further, Clemson University is well positioned to support computational materials research with Clemson’s Palmetto Cluster for high-performance computing. In addition, a new Advanced Materials Innovation Complex Building will open in Fall 2025, which will house faculty from ChBE, MSE, and Chemistry. In addition to our cutting-edge research, both the ChBE and MSE departments are committed to fostering an environment of diversity and inclusion that fuels innovation and celebrates the uniqueness of our students, staff, and faculty. As such, exceptional scholars who can contribute to the diversity of our academic community are strongly encouraged to apply. Clemson is a Carnegie “Very High Research Activity” (R1) University and is located on the shores of Lake Hartwell in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains halfway between Atlanta and Charlotte, combining excellent cost-of-living with accessible work-life-family balance. Recently, the Princeton Review named Clemson University the best university in South Carolina and one of the top public institutions in the nation. Our expansive 17,000-acre campus is home to nearly 29,000 undergraduate and graduate students from every state in the U.S. and from countries across the globe.
