JOB SUMMARY:
Directs and manages advising at the departmental level. Plans, designs, creates and administers an advising program for students that meets the college's long-term goal of creating an excellent education and extraordinary experience. Advises and supports undergraduate students to aid in timely and successful degree progress. Assesses student needs and identifies and refer students to resources. Develops and implements student programs to support retention and engagement. Other duties as assigned.
JOB DUTIES:
30% - Essential - Supervision: Manage the work of others, including hiring, training, developing, and monitoring the performance of departmental advisors and/or registration coordinators. Supports direct reports with trouble-shooting of complex issues. Keeps current on the latest research, analysis methods, and national trends. Advocates to incorporate best practices to position the department at the forefront of advising.
30% - Essential - Course Selection and Academic Progress: Monitors and counsels students on academic progress. Advises undergraduate students on course selection. Advises and counsels undergraduate and graduate students on University and departmental policies, engagement opportunities, and personal development. Identifies student issues and refers students to other campus resources as needed. Serves as a key resource to faculty and administrative officers regarding student information and policies. Provides registration support.
25% - Essential - Coordination: Plans and organizes student centered initiatives, programs, or events (e.g. outreach and developmental programming, orientation, bridge and transfer programs, advising communications, software implementation, event coordination). Maintains schedule, manages logistics, recruits participants for initiatives, communicates and reports on program outcomes. Attends relevant meetings and serves as liaison for the department.
15% - Essential - Service: Participates in departmental, College, and University wide initiatives related to advising and student success by providing staff support, knowledge, and expertise to ensure a successful program. Assists with College recruiting and engagement programming as needed.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Bachelor's Degree
Work Experience: Experience in student services programs.

Manages Work of Others - Manages work of others including hiring, terminating, training and developing, reviewing performance and administering corrective action for staff. Plans organizational structure and job content.
BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITIES
No Budget Responsibilities - No fiscal responsibility for the department's budget.

COMPENSATION INFORMATION
Expected Salary Range: $ 61,350.00 - $ 70,322.44
Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.

Normal Operations
Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations.
