JOB SUMMARY:

 

The Application Developer II plays a vital role in the development and customization of Clemson University's InfoEd research grant application system. Working closely with the Information Systems Business Analyst III and reporting to the Senior Information Systems Business Analyst, this position focuses on technical development and coding solutions to enhance the functionality and user experience of InfoEd. The developer ensures the system meets the evolving needs of the university¿s research community by creating efficient, scalable, and user-friendly solutions.

JOB DUTIES:

 

40% - Essential - System Administration Support:
Enhance proficiency in InfoEd related coding languages and frameworks, including HTML, XML, JavaScript, XSLT, and SQL. Participate in training sessions and workshops to deepen knowledge of InfoEd system architecture and coding standards. Practice and apply advanced SQL techniques to create optimized custom select statements for eForms. Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging technologies relevant to InfoEd development.
30% - Essential - Technology Support:
Strengthen collaboration with the Information Systems Business Analyst III and Senior Analyst to ensure system alignment with user requirements. Participate in regular team meetings to review development goals, gather feedback, and align on project timelines. Work in tandem with analysts to translate functional requirements into technical specifications and deliverables. Develop and test new eForm functionalities and workflows to enhance user efficiency.
20% - Essential - Process Improvement:
Proactively address system challenges and identify innovative solutions for improving InfoEd.
Use debugging tools and testing environments to identify and resolve issues in codebases.
Propose and implement enhancements to InfoEd forms, workflows, and interfaces based on user feedback and system analysis. Experiment with new coding techniques to enhance the visual and functional aspects of InfoEd communications and eForms. Build a career pathway within application development by achieving measurable milestones and certifications. Set annual performance goals with the Senior Analyst to align development activities with career objectives.
5% - Essential - Customer service focus:
Collaborate with analysts to implement system updates, eForm revisions, and workflow improvements. Ensure that coding practices align with Clemson University¿s standards for quality and security. Participate in system testing and debugging to ensure the reliability of developed solutions. Contribute to user-focused enhancements for InfoEd interfaces and communications. By focusing on these development areas, the Application Developer II will contribute to the seamless operation and continual improvement of Clemson University's InfoEd system, supporting the broader mission of research excellence.
5% - Essential - Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain clear documentation of development activities and contribute to team knowledge-sharing efforts. Document custom code solutions, SQL queries, and workflows for team reference and future development. Provide input on technical guides and system documentation to support user understanding of new features. Share insights and lessons learned with the team during retrospectives and knowledge-sharing sessions.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

 

Education -  High School equivalent and work experience in the modification and maintenance of system programs, the design and development of system software, or the testing and debugging of system software. An associate's degree or a bachelor's degree in a related field may be substituted for the required work experience
Work Exp 4+ years

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

 

Education -  Associate's Degree in information technology or related computer field

COMPENSATION INFORMATION

 

Expected Salary Range ($ 53,300.00 - $ 86,321.00)
 

Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.

ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL

 

Normal Operations
Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations.
