JOB SUMMARY:

 

The Director of Teaching and Learning in the College of Veterinary Medicine provides leadership in the Office of Academic Affairs by developing and implementing the overall strategy for faculty teaching and student learning support. Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES:

 

30% - Non-Essential - Faculty Support: 
Lead the implementation of faculty teaching certificates with the Clemson University Office of Teaching Effectiveness and Innovation and the CVM Department Chair. Create an open dialogue with faculty to inform and adjust to their educational professional development needs.  Assist college faculty and administration in evidence-based curricular improvements centered on current literature and outcomes assessment data.
25% - Essential - Student Learning Support:
Collaborate with the Professional Development Unit Lead and CVM faculty to create, integrate and implement coursework in the DVM program related to best practices in learning, information resources and studying. Oversee the licensing board preparation and support portion of the curriculum. Collaborate with student services coordinators in the Office of Academic Affairs to deliver the number one student experience.

20% - Essential - Information Resources:
Oversee the collection, programming and study spaces in the CVM Information Resource Center (CVM Library). Act as the liaison to the Clemson University Library System.  Promote Clemson University library resources within the CVM.
15% - Essential - Curricular Progress & Innovation:
Collaborate with the Office of Academic Affairs and the Curriculum Committee to assist in curricular implementation and adjustment. Engages in educational research independently and/or in collaboration with others. Represent the CVM professional educational mission on collegiate, university and national committees.
10% - Essential - Supervision & Management:
Supervise a team of people dedicated to supporting faculty and students, including an Instructional Designer, Learning Strategist, and student workers. Manage budget and resources of the CVM's learning resource center.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

 

Education -  Bachelor's Degree
Experience -  3+ years of experience in direct faculty and/or student support

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

 

Education -  Master's or Doctoral Degree in library or information sciences, higher education administration, or related field.

Doesn't provide input but is responsible for monitoring the departmental budget and may manage fund allocation

COMPENSATION INFORMATION

 

Band: 08 ($ 68,397.00 - $100,000.00)
 

Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.

ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL

 

Normal Operations
Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations.
