EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, RESEARCH COMPUTING & DATA ENGAGEMENT

JOB SUMMARY:

 

Clemson University is looking for an Executive Director, Research Computing & Data Engagement to fulfill the following duties:

  • Lead Research Computing & Data (RCD) Engagement organization to provide services in high performance computing, data analysis, geographic information services, cloud and software services, training, etc.  
  • Lead coordination of infrastructure needs required for regulated research data. 
  • Represent Clemson (RCD) across Clemson and to external organizations. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES:

 

50% - Essential - Provide strategic direction for RCD Engagement and supervise directors.
25% - Essential - Engage with Clemson researchers to define service needs.  Engage in multiple Clemson multidisciplinary planning groups.  Engage with REDCAT advisory team.
15% - Essential - Lead coordination of infrastructure needs required for regulated research data.
10% - Essential - Remain current with national RCD and Regulated Research Data organizations and initiatives.  Remain current with national RCD resources, tools, and trends.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

 

Education -  Master's Degree or Bachelor's Degree with 10 Years of Experience 
Work Experience - 7+ Years

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

 

Education - Doctoral / Professional Degree - Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computational Science Domain 
Work Experience - 15+ Years

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

JOB KNOWLEDGE

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages Work of Others - Manages work of others including hiring, terminating, training and developing, reviewing performance and administering corrective action for staff. Plans organizational structure and job content.
BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Develops Department Budgets - Responsible for developing one or more departmental budget(s). Estimated amount of budgetary responsibility in dollar amount must be added.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

 

Sit (stationary position) for prolonged period
Use hands or feet to operate or handle machinery, equipment, etc
Communicate, converse, give direction, express oneself
Recognize or inspect visually

WORK SCHEDULE:

 

Standard Hours: 37.5 Hours / Week

COMPENSATION INFORMATION

 

Expected Salary Range: ($ 138,119.00 - $ 185,000.00)
 

Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.

ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL

 

Normal Operations
Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations.
